Government is experiencing an unprecedented digital transformation. How we move, work and access healthcare is changing fast. Every year there are thousands of opportunities for innovative young companies to work with the government and help to improve public services. GovStart was a growth programme helping innovators plan, connect and collaborate with the people and organisations for which technology will be game-changing.
GovStart was a sixth-month growth programme to help tech startups transform the public sector. Through five iterations in the UK, the programme worked with startups at different stages and in various public sector segments, and provided them with the tailored support, strategy and networks they needed to succeed. GovStart companies have interacted, engaged and sold into almost every Government sector (including local councils, MoJ, NHS and DWP), delivering modern citizen experiences and significant cost savings.
GovStart was built around startups' needs. We spent the first part of the programme defining key goals with each startup, and then delivered highly tailored support in areas such as: public sector readiness and network, product development, investment, procurement, public sector regulations and data protection standards.
Our model was focused on commercialisation and scale. Our strength lies in helping startups develop strong commercial propositions, raise funding and secure public sector traction - all aimed at supporting them achieve scale.
GovStart’s success hinged on the advice and support of our diverse team and pool of 50+ mentors, as well as connections with government bodies, investors, and go-to-market partners.
Since 2017 dozens of companies have learned to navigate the public sector with the help of GovStart.
