PUBLIC Unveils the New GovStart, A Community Platform to Help Startups Transform the Public Sector

First free and interactive community & engagement platform for 50 selected startups looking to scale across the public sector.

- New market-leading platform will equip startups with six months of dedicated learning content, events, and access to an expansive network of GovTech companies

- Two GovStart programmes will be run across the UK and Germany

Today PUBLIC has announced the launch of the new GovStart: a free community & engagement platform set to provide 50 selected startups with the vital knowledge and network needed to transform the delivery of public services.

After four years of the GovStart accelerator programme, supporting over 45 companies secure £19m worth of public-sector contracts and raise £59m from investors, PUBLIC has evolved the GovStart offering and launched a new platform to accompany the six month programme.

Through the new programme, the selected startups will gain a deep understanding of the public sector where they will be provided with access to the community platform, growth advice, peer-to-peer support, comprehensive learning content, and networking opportunities. Participating startups will learn how to work with, and sell to, the public sector whilst also gaining exposure to relevant public sector decision-makers and industry experts.

This year's GovStart will predominantly recruit across six focus areas, which include health and social care solutions for patient empowerment and coordination of care; digital interventions in justice & policing to support offender rehabilitation; climate tech solutions to support energy transition and the greening of supply chains; privacy, security & safety tools to tackle mis/disinformation detection; and business systems that can support workflows and collaboration. It will also be open to all new technologies that can be transformative for the public sector and will reserve places for companies that do not fall into these categories.

Applications open today until the 1st May, where 50 companies will then be selected for the six month programme starting on the 6th June. After the programme, startups will be able to join the GovStart Alumni Community and will also remain a member of the platform, providing a space to interact, share insights and provide advice to the next generation of GovStart companies.

Daniel Korski, CEO and Co-Founder of PUBLIC said:

Since day one, PUBLIC has been on a mission to bridge the gap between the public sector and the startup ecosystem to transform the delivery of public services. GovStart is a core part of that story. Starting as Europe’sfirst accelerator, our GovStart programme has worked with almost 50 startups to scale their innovative solutions across governments in the UK, France, and Germany. It has been incredible to watch the GovTech sector evolve and mature with more startups than ever before now accessing public markets.” He added: “From today, we wish to take this one step further. Barriers to entry for new entrants still remain high and access to the right education, best practices, networks, and routes to market is still not available to the ecosystem at large. After four successful years, we are now opening applications to join our new and free GovStart platform for startups to scale their solutions across public services.
